Ugandan Murdered By Cutting, Body Dumped in Remote Village

 


North Kyoga Police spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema has stated that the territorial police in Lira-City West Division are investigating circumstances under which a person, yet to be identified, was killed by having the neck and body cut, then dumped around Obutuwelo A cell, Ojwina B ward, Lira-City West Division.

According to him, this report was registered at Juba Road police by one Apeto Bonny, aged 34. He is a resident of Ireda Samba cell, Lira-City West Division, in Lira City.

The incident occurred on January 19, 2024, at around 08:00 hours when a team of police officers led by the Deputy OC CID Lira-City West Division station, booked out on information to the scene that there was a dead body of an unidentified person lying along the road.




However, preliminary findings indicate that on the night of January 18, 2024, unknown individuals killed this person by cutting him around the neck using a panga, then later dumped the body along Okot-Ogong Road at Obutuwelo ‘A’ cell.

SP Patrick Okema said a case file of suspected murder has been registered at Lira-City West Division. Meanwhile, the deceased body has been conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending a postmortem report.

An alleged panga with bloodstains, suspected to have been used to kill the deceased, was also recovered at the scene of the crime. The deceased was dressed in black trousers, black canvas shoes, and a white jumper.
