2 Children killed, bodies dumped near school

Two youngsters were tragically Killed and their bodies left near a school, causing immense sorrow among the residents of Lwanume Village in Kalungu District.

The victims, a young boy and girl aged 4 to 5, appeared to be strangers in the area, possibly brought from another village. Fortunately, a two-year-old child survived this horrific incident. The children were discovered under a tree near St. Mary's Primary School, Lwanume, when a passerby alerted Mr. Yahaya Mutebi, the village's chairperson.

Ms. Grace Namusoke, caring for the surviving child at Pearl Medical Clinic, noted the child had faeces all over the body, suggesting possible poisoning. However, the surviving child has received treatment and is now stable. Authorities, including Mr. Paddy Kayondo, the Kalungu Resident District Commissioner, speculate that a parent may be involved in this tragic act, potentially due to a domestic dispute.

The Southern Regional Police, led by Mr. Twaha Kasirye, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the children's deaths, including the possible involvement of their parents. The surviving two-year-old girl has provided information indicating that her mother may be responsible. The deceased children's bodies have been transported to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for autopsy.
