A woman from Kanungu District has been taken into police custody for allegedly poisoning another woman in her village.
The suspect, Loyce Twinomujuni, 35, is accused of poisoning Ruth Tukamusiima, 23, who lived nearby.
The incident took place on Monday, starting with the victim experiencing vomiting and stomach pain around 7 a.m., and unfortunately passing away at about 1 p.m.
The police spox, ASP Elly Maate, mentioned that the deceased and the suspect were close neighbors who often quarreled over their husbands. It is suspected that their disagreements, related to chéating on each other's husbands, might have led to this incident.
The investigation, under file number CRB 571/2023, is still ongoing. Currently, the body has been moved to Kanungu Health Center IV Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
