A person died due to falling debris from an unfinished building in Jinja. The incident occurred in the evening when strong winds caused a section of the building to collapse, hitting the victim who had taken shelter there.
According to an eyewitness named Bashir, they tried to warn the person, but it was too late. The Uganda Red Cross confirmed one death and another injury, explaining that the debris fell during rainy weather with strong winds.
The local chairperson urged people to complete construction promptly to prevent similar incidents. Efforts to contact the police spokesperson were unsuccessful.
