Following a series of violent protests centered around the high cost of living and demands for electoral reforms, Kenya's government and opposition have initiated new discussions in an effort to resolve their political conflict.
The talks, led by a 10-member joint committee, began on Wednesday. The clashes have resulted in a reported death toll of at least 20 individuals, with rights advocates suggesting the actual number could be much higher.
Eugene Wamalwa, a representative from the Azimio delegation, expressed optimism about the talks potentially breaking the deadlock. However, there is currently no specific timetable for the discussions, and the precise agenda remains a point of contention.
