The saloon car in which two individuals were traveling collided with a large stone, causing it to overturn and catch fire in a swamp on the Kakumiro-Kibaale road.
Both occupants, Collins Mugwerwa, the manager of Eden Resort Hotel, and Sarah Kusiima, a supervisor at Avenue Bar, were burnt beyond recognition.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am in Kyakinaka village, approximately one kilometer from Kakumiro town. The bodies of the victims aforementioned , were transported to Kakumiro health center IV for post-mortem examination.
Witnesses Isaac Juuko and Nyamaizi Raziya mentioned that the accident was after a loud noise from the vehicle hitting the stone.
Kakumiro District's traffic police officer, ASP Godwin Mwesigwa, urged drivers to avoid excessive speeding at night to prevent such accidents.
