Kampala Lawyer Shoots Dead Kings Park Arena Security Guard


 

A tragic incident unfolded at Kings Park Rugby Club when Ahamya Sam, a 47-year-old lawyer, allegedly shot and killed Buruga Nekeon, a 37-year-old watchman at the rugby club. Ahamya had visited the club with his two children for leisure and was armed with a pistol, which he initially left with a police officer at the entrance. At around 22:00 hrs, Ahamya went to retrieve his weapon. In the process of performing Normal Safety Precautions (NSP) with the magazine still in the pistol, he accidentally shot and injured Buruga Nekeon, who succumbed to the injuries.

The police have taken swift action in response to the incident. A murder case by shooting has been opened, referenced as 44/20/01/2024. The crime scene was visited by a team of police officers led by Divisional CID Officer D/SP Nuwamanya and other officers, including D/C Masereka from the Scenes of Crime Unit (SOCO). The firearm used in the incident has been recovered and is safely kept for forensic analysis by SOCO.

Ahamya Sam, the suspect, is currently in custody at Kira Police Division. The body of the deceased, Buruga Nekeon, has been conveyed to the City mortuary for a postmortem examination.
