Gabon's Transitional Leader Holds talks with president of republic of the Congo

The leader of a transitional government in Gabon met with the President of the Republic of the Congo in an effort to lift sanctions imposed on Gabon.

General Brice Oligui Nguema visited Congo-Brazzaville with the goal of strengthening relations between the two countries and ending Gabon's isolation both regionally and globally.

After the meeting, Gen Nguema expressed his intention to consult with the Congolese President, who he sees as influential in the region and capable of advocating for Gabon's actions to the international community.

President Nguesso did not make a statement to the press following the talks, but his Foreign Minister praised Gen Nguema as a person of humility and reconciliation.

The Foreign Minister also called for support for Gen Nguema from the Gabonese, Congolese, and Central African communities.
