Central African Republic President Faustin Touadera engaged in confidential discussions with the leader appointed by the Gabon junta in Libreville.
This meeting took place following the strong disapproval of the August 30 coup by the primary regional bloc.
Earlier, the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) had designated Touadera as a "facilitator of the political process" in Gabon, entrusting him with the responsibility of engaging with "all Gabonese stakeholders and partners of the country" with the aim of swiftly restoring constitutional order.
