53 die in Burkina Faso jihadist clash

Fifty-three including security personnel in Burkina Faso lost their lives during a fierce confrontation with Islamist militants. This tragic incident unfolded on Monday when the security forces were defending against an assault by these jihadists.

The intense combat occurred in the northern Yatenga province, where the military was actively working to regain control of the area. In response to the attack, the army managed to "neutralize" a number of militants during a counter-operation.

 However, the toll on the military's side amounted to 17 soldiers and 36 civilian volunteers, marking a total of 53 deaths in this clash with jihadist forces.
