Zimbabweans vote with hope to end economic crisis

Zimbabweans turned out to vote with the hope of putting an end to their ongoing economic crisis. In Harare, a limited number of polling stations opened on time due to ballot paper printing delays caused by court challenges.

The electoral commission assured that late-opening stations would close later to compensate. Other regions reported fewer delays. Both the government and the electoral commission emphasized the fairness of the election.

.Winning the presidency requires over 50% of the vote; otherwise, a runoff between the top two candidates will occur on October 2. Parliamentary and local council candidates need a simple majority to win.
