The bank's team visited Uganda right after the law was passed and found that more steps were necessary to ensure that projects followed the bank's environmental and social standards.
The bank stated that no new funding will be considered until the effectiveness of these additional measures is assessed.
The bank believes that the Anti-Homosëxuality Act in Uganda goes against its values, emphasizing that its mission to reduce poverty and create a sustainable world can only be achieved by including everyone regardless of their race, gender, or séxual orientation.
