Ugandan President accuses World Bank of using pressure tactics

Uganda's leader, Yoweri Museveni, has claimed that the World Bank is attempting to pressure the government to change its stance on anti-LGBT laws.

Museveni emphasized that Uganda's development will progress regardless of loans and criticized the lender for trying to manipulate the country's faith, culture, and sovereignty using financial incentives.

He asserted that Africans can address their own societal issues without external pressure. Despite these comments, Museveni noted ongoing discussions with the World Bank to potentially avoid such conflicts.
