MPs pay honour gold medalist Cheptegei and urge completion of Teryet training center.

Opposition leader John Baptist Nambeshe calls on the Ministry of Education to finish the Teryet National High Altitude Training Centre in Kapchorwa District quickly.

Nambeshe's request follows Joshua Cheptegei's gold win in the 10,000 meters race at the World Athletics Championships on August 20, 2023.

Nambeshe suggests completing the training center as a tribute to Cheptegei. He criticizes the delay in the project, which started in 2012 and was due for completion in 2020.

The State Minister for Education and Sports, John Chrysostom Muyingo, states that 98% of the work is complete and invites MPs to visit. Concerns about athlete readiness and performance are also raised by other MPs.

The Deputy Speaker tasks the State Minister for Sports to provide updates on football stadiums and the training center's progress. Michael Kakembo urges funding for Ugandan athletes preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which Muyingo confirms as budgeted.
