Former Kenyan governor and spouse apprehended by anti-corruption agency

Reports from local media indicate that Kenyan authorities have detained a former governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, and his wife, Priscilla, on suspicions of irregularities in procurement.

The political party ODM shared on Twitter that Oparanya is currently under custody at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. The reason for their arrest and the nature of their interrogation have not been disclosed. Oparanya previously held the position of governor in Kakamega County in western Kenya for two terms, spanning from 2013 to 2022.
