The Florida Governor’s disappointing campaign for presidential nominee left him no choice but to do away with staffers across several departments in an effort to shore up spending wasted so far.
The campaign had more staff than any other GOP candidate, with 92 on the payroll, and $8m of the $20m brought in during the first six weeks has already been spent - with donors ineligible to give more because they gave the maximum legal amount.
“They never should have brought so many people on, the burn rate was way too high," one source told NBC. "People warned the campaign manager but she wanted to hear none of it. DeSantis stock isn’t rising," they added. "Twenty percent is not what people signed up for."
Has he finally shown some cajones?
