Pastor Aloysious Bugingo, from the House of Prayer Ministry, found himself at the center of a violent attack on January 2nd, 2024. The Old Kampala Police are now deep into a comprehensive investigation following an attempted murder on the prominent religious figure and the devastating killing of his devoted bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard.
The incident unfolded around 9 PM when unidentified assailants unleashed a hail of bullets on Pastor Bugingo's vehicle, affectionately registered as PRAIZ GOD. The attack occurred along Namungona in Zone 2, Kasubi, Rubaga Division, Kampala, specifically at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road. The assailants, swift in their execution, made a quick escape on a motorcycle, leaving chaos and tragedy in their wake.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, says that despite sustaining injuries during the assault, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo, managed to take control of the situation. He steered his bullet-riddled vehicle to Mulago Hospital for urgent medical attention. However, the same could not be said for his valiant bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, who tragically succumbed to the merciless attack. Richard was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, leaving a void in the security detail that once surrounded Pastor Bugingo.
As the police swiftly responded to the distressing scene, they encountered signs of tampering, further complicating the unfolding investigation. Eyewitness statements have been diligently recorded, and Muhumuza Richard's lifeless body has been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination.
