At least 10 people were killed in Somalia when a truck bomb exploded at a checkpoint in the town of Beledweyne.
The explosion resulted in significant destruction of nearby buildings and shops, according to a police officer.
The responsible party has not been identified, but the Islamist group al Shabaab is known for carrying out bombings in the country.
The death toll is expected to increase, as there were several others injured in the incident.
Among the deaths were five police officers who fired at the truck in an attempt to stop it from ramming into the checkpoint.
