A ferry accident in north central Nigeria resulted in the tragic loss of at least 26 lives, with several individuals still unaccounted for, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred in the Mokwa local government area of Niger state, where a ferry carrying over 100 passengers, mainly women and children, capsized while they were en route to their farms across a significant dam.
As of now, more than 30 people have been rescued, and a joint rescue effort involving marine police, local divers, and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency is currently doing its role.
