The Libyan authorities reported that over 2,500 people died and thousands are missing due to a massive flood that occurred in the city of Derna after a dam broke during a severe storm.

The flood swept away entire neighborhoods and their residents, causing widespread destruction. The number of missing persons is estimated to be between 5,000-6,000, according to Ahmed Mismari, the spokesperson for the Libyan National Army.
