A new ambassador from the United States will soon begin her duties in Niamey, the capital of Niger.
Kathleen Fitzgibbon has been assigned the role of leading the US mission in Niger during a crucial period, as mentioned by State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel.
Fitzgibbon's responsibilities also include coordinating US initiatives to address the recent coup and providing assistance to stranded American citizens in Niger.
Patel did not specify the exact timing of her travel to Niger, but he assured reporters that her visit does not imply any change in the US government's perspective regarding the military's seizure of power.
