Moroccan authorities are currently engaged in combatting a wildfire.

Moroccan authorities are currently tackling a wildfire near Tangier that ignited on the evening of August 10 in the Rmeilat forest. The fire extended towards residential areas northwest of Tangier on August 11.

Firefighters, along with emergency teams and Canadair aircraft from the Royal Armed Forces, have been battling the flames continuously since then. The Rmilat forest, spanning 300 hectares, saw a fire outbreak three days ago, affecting around 20 to 25 hectares.

Swift action helped avert a more catastrophic outcome, according to an official from the Observatory for the Protection of the Environment. Morocco has recently designated $22 million for forest fire prevention and management.
