Boko Haram releases 49 women who were abducted in Nigeria's Borno state.
Boko Haram has released 49 women who were abducted in Nigeria's Borno state earlier in the week. The women, who were kidnapped while working on their farms near Maiduguri, were set free after a state official paid a ransom for their release.

The victims were released at midnight, with Boko Haram claiming that their families met their demands. Despite the initial demand of a 3 million naira ($3,891.86) ransom, the women, mainly impoverished farmers, were released after a state representative negotiated and paid 1 million naira to the captors for their freedom.
