Six individuals have been apprehended in Nebbi, Uganda, in connection with the theft of 16 million Shillings from the Nebbi Workers Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) Ltd.

Unidentified criminals broke into the SACCO's premises, located in Nebbi Municipality, during the night and absconded with the money along with two tablet phones used for agent banking.

Among the detained suspects are the SACCO Manager, cashier, security guard on duty, and three other SACCO staff members. The suspects were tracked down with the assistance of sniffer dogs, and the stolen funds and electronic assets have been secured.

This occurrence marks the second SACCO-related theft incident in Nebbi this year. In a similar incident in May, 20 million Shillings were stolen from the Nyaravur Farmers Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) office.
