🇮🇱 Israel's Parliament Initiates Vote on Restricting Supreme Court Authority

Israel's Parliament began the final vote on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposed changes to the judiciary, amidst a severe political crisis.

President Isaac Herzog, who has been leading compromise talks, had no immediate comment.

Nationwide protests have erupted against the government's judicial plans. Demonstrators were dispersed by police using a water cannon, and some were arrested for blocking the road.

The crisis has even impacted the military, with reservists vowing not to report for duty if the plans proceed.

Despite this, Netanyahu's coalition is expected to comfortably win the vote on the bill limiting the Supreme Court's powers.
