NUP Head of Mobilization Shot Dead



Lochoto Ambrose, the head of mobilisation for the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Kaabong district, Karamoja sub-region, has been tragically shot dead. Known as "Machete," Lochoto was reportedly killed on his way home after watching a football match on Saturday night. The NUP party, through its secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya, announced Lochoto's death on Sunday morning. Rubongoya stated that Lochoto had previously received numerous death threats due to his unwavering character.

According to reports from the ground, Lochoto was allegedly pursued by a patrol vehicle and shot at close range. Rubongoya mourned Lochoto as a dedicated comrade who always proudly wore his People Power attire.

NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, condemned the killing, stating that Lochoto's body was taken to the mortuary after being shot dead. He expressed outrage at attempts to cover up the incident, mentioning false claims that Lochoto was a Turkana warrior killed in an ambush.

Bobi Wine highlighted the challenges faced by NUP supporters and mobilisers, particularly in Northern Uganda, emphasizing the need for justice. As of the time of reporting, the police had not issued an official statement regarding Lochoto Ambrose's death.
