The leader of the junta in Burkina Faso has dismissed the police chief, a little over a week after the ruling junta claimed to have foiled a coup attempt.
Ibrahim Traoré, the interim leader, has appointed Lt Col Kouagri Natama to replace Lt Col Evrard Somda, who had been heading the national gendarmerie since last year.
Additionally, Traoré has made changes to the officers responsible for logistics and equipment management in both the Burkinabe army and the gendarmerie.
In relation to this, four police officers were arrested by the junta last week on suspicion of involvement in a conspiracy against state security.
