Gunmen near the Burundi-DR Congo border fatally shot two individuals and injured another in an ambush on a car.
The incident occurred on the road connecting Bubanza province to Bujumbura, Burundi's commercial capital, on Saturday night.
The targeted vehicle, traveling from Gihanga to Bujumbura, was shot at, resulting in the deaths of a man and a woman, while another man managed to escape but sustained gunshot wounds.
Suspicions point to the Red-Tabara rebel group, known for its prolonged conflict with the Burundian government, primarily operating from bases in eastern DRC. The attackers retreated to the nearby Rukoko forest, facilitating their return to their hideouts. #Burundi #DRC
