Zimbabwe's President receives Commonwealth delegation

Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa has received a delegation from the Commonwealth, responsible for monitoring the country's elections, at his official residence. The team's visit to State House comes as the Commonwealth deliberates over Zimbabwe's potential reentry.

Following human rights violations, former President Robert Mugabe withdrew Zimbabwe from the Commonwealth in 2003; however, the nation reapplied for membership after Mnangagwa assumed office in 2018.

Notably, observer groups from the European Union, the South African Development Community, and the African Union also visited Mnangagwa's residence. A spokesperson from the Commonwealth stated that the organization has been reviewing Zimbabwe's commitment to upholding Commonwealth values.
