Zimbabwean policeapprehends 40 members of an opposition coalition

Zimbabwean police have apprehended 40 members of an opposition coalition who were conducting a campaign ahead of the upcoming elections.

The arrests occurred in Harare's Glenview suburb on Tuesday. Among those detained was Gladmore Hakata, the candidate for MP of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in Glenview South.

The police explained on social media that the CCC engaged in activities not specified in their rally notification, including a vehicle procession, traffic obstruction, and chanting party slogans on the streets.

The police responded following a resident's report of these actions. Additionally, some CCC supporters assaulted a member of the ruling Zanu-PF party.
