Uganda Will Not Face Shutdown Due to World Bank Loan Suspension, Deputy Speaker Assures MPs"

The Deputy Speaker of Uganda's Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has called for calm among Members of Parliament following the World Bank's decision to suspend loan funding to the country.

Tayebwa, who chaired a parliamentary session, expressed confidence that Uganda is well-prepared and resolute in its stance. He emphasized that the decision made by the Parliament was anticipated to have consequences, particularly concerning the country's position on homoséxuality.

The President assured that discussions with the World Bank are ongoing, and the Ministry of Finance will update the Parliament on potential adjustments to the national budget.
