Hundreds die in Mozambique due to Doctors' strike

Over the past 40 days, around 620 individuals have reportedly lost their lives at Maputo Central Hospital due to an ongoing protest by healthcare workers in Mozambique.

In an unprecedented move, healthcare professionals in Mozambique are participating in a strike, with doctors opting to extend their protest for an additional 21 days.

During this period, the striking medical staff intend to offer a limited level of service to patients, aiming to prevent further hardships for the population.

The protesters argue that they are facing shortages of essential medications and critical medical equipment. Additionally, they highlight the need to personally fund basic supplies for ambulances. With no other recourse, they feel compelled to engage in the strike and are demanding the removal of Health Minister Armindo Tiago from his position.
