Gabon President Bongo ousted by Coup

Pro-coup demonstrations continue in Gabon

Former Gabon President Ali Bongo Ondimba is reported to be confined to his residence, with family and doctors, as stated by military sources.

One of his sons has been arrested on charges of "treason."  After army officers declared their takeover on national television, crowds gathered in the capital, initially interacting with soldiers but were later asked to go back to their homes.

China expressed concern and called for dialogue to restore normalcy. The deposed president, Ali Bongo, sought international support through a video message, expressing uncertainty about the whereabouts of his wife and sons and urging foreign nations to take action.

Things in Africa are becoming more interesting, good enough Gabon is not in ECOWAS.
