Rapper Sentenced To Six Years Prison In Iran

Iran has reportedly handed down a prison sentence of six years and three months to a well-known rapper for his involvement in the protests in the country last year, according to statements made by his supporters on Monday.

The announcement of the sentence was made through a social media account managed by Toomaj Salehi's supporters, and it was further confirmed by Ye-One Rhie, a member of the German parliament who has been advocating for Salehi. As of now, there has been no official response from Iranian authorities regarding the matter.

Salehi was among the local protesters who took to the streets last fall after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who had died after being arrested by Iran’s morality police for allegedly violating the country’s strict Islamic dress code.
