Viral Video Attacker Arrested in Connection with Machete Assault on Nateete Mobile Money


A man captured in viral CCTV footage attacking a Nateete businessman with a machete on May 13 has been apprehended by police. The suspect, identified as Ashraf Kizza, was arrested on Wednesday in Rakai District, where he had been hiding, according to police sources. Kizza is currently detained on charges of attempted murder.

The incident occurred at around 8:45 AM on May 13 at Bashir Grain Millers in Nateete, Rubaga Division, Kampala City. The victim, 55-year-old businessman Sam Turyamuhaki, was conducting a financial transaction when Kizza, a four-month employee at the mill, attacked him. Kizza allegedly removed a machete and a hammer from a sack and demanded money from Turyamuhaki, who was verifying a payment of Shs8 million from the mill's owner.

Kizza reportedly inflicted multiple cuts on Turyamuhaki before fleeing the scene, thanks to the intervention of bystanders. The arrest was confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman Mr. Luke Owoyesigyire.
