Two health Workers in Kasese Arrested for Possessing 500 tins of Government ARVs


Two individuals working in the healthcare sector in Kasese have been apprehended for possessing government-provided antiretroviral drugs (ARVs).

Justine Ithungu, residing in Kidodo cell in Kasese Municipality, was discovered with 50 tins of ARVs, while Paul Bwambale Makanika, from the Railway ward in Kasese, purportedly had 450 tins in his possession at their respective residences.

The Uganda National Drug Authority (NDA), in conjunction with law enforcement, carried out the operation, as stated by NDA's public relations manager, Abiaz Rwamwiri. Rwamwiri explained that the arrests were a result of a targeted operation conducted throughout the district based on gathered intelligence. 

Subsequently, the suspects were moved to Kibuli in Kampala for further questioning.
