Mother and Son Remanded for Alleged Will Forgery

A mother and her adult son have been detained at Luzira prison for their alleged involvement in the falsification of a Will.

Margaret Nabakooza and her son, David Mutyaba, were brought before the court on Tuesday, accused of conspiring with an attorney named Alice Nabakooza Nyombi to create fraudulent powers of Attorney for Harriet Naboosa Joyce Kiwanuka. The state asserts that these purported powers were transferred to Mr. Mutyaba.

They are accused of presenting the forged Will and powers of Attorney, dated October 29, 2020, to Kisubi Micheal Steven.

Furthermore, the duo faces charges related to meddling with the estate of the late Harriet Nabbosa, which includes various properties in Kyukyumu, Kaliti, Senge, Nakulabye, and Najeera.

Despite their denial of the charges, Mutyaba and his mother were remanded to prison until April 30, 2024, as the state prosecutors were absent due to their annual symposium. Criminal summons were issued against the accused advocate, Nabakooza, as she was not present in court.
