Man in West Nile Murders Wife for Denying Him Conjugal Rights

Agunda James, a 48-year-old peasant from Obaru cell, Ombokolo ward, finds himself in police custody following the tragic assault and murder of his 23-year-old wife, Chandiru Judith. The West Nile Region territorial police and Ayivu East CPS took Agunda James into detention after the disturbing incident that unfolded on the night of March 1, 2024.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the couple had been sharing their marital bed without engaging in sexual relations, allegedly due to accusations made by the victim against her husband regarding extramarital affairs. The situation escalated on the fateful night when Agunda James initiated a quarrel with his wife. This led Chandiru Judith to move to another mattress in an attempt to distance herself.

However, Agunda James, consumed by rage, followed her and proceeded to physically assault her, targeting her ribs in the heat of the argument. Tragically, the altercation resulted in Chandiru Judith falling to the floor and succumbing to her injuries. Subsequently, Agunda James voluntarily surrendered himself to the police.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers meticulously documented the incident and conducted a thorough examination of the victim's body. Following standard procedures, the body was then released to the relatives for burial arrangements.

This distressing incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of domestic disputes escalating into violence. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served for Chandiru Judith and her grieving family.
