UPDF Commandos Take Over Security of Pastor Bugingo

Following an attempted assassination on Pastor Bugingo Aloysius, the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) has taken charge of his security apparatus until further notice.

Colonel Fred Mwesigye, the head of operations in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, made the announcement during the Sunday service at Canaan Church. He revealed that the UPDF has assumed responsibility for the security not only at Canaan Church but also at Pastor Bugingo's residence and all his affiliated offices, including the Salt media offices in Rubaga.

"I am Colonel Fred Mwesigye, the head of operations in the Kampala Metropolitan Area. I come to mourn with you for the deceased member and thank God for giving Pastor Bugingo a second chance at life. I am here to assess the security at this Church, and I can confirm that we are in control at the residence and the offices. I want you to remain calm, and I assure you that we will do everything to ensure your safety," assured Colonel Mwesigye during his statement.

The UPDF's intervention comes in the wake of a recent assassination attempt on Pastor Bugingo, which tragically resulted in the death of his driver due to gunshot wounds. The move is seen as a proactive measure to safeguard the influential religious leader and his congregation amid growing security concerns.

As investigations into the attempted assassination are ongoing, the UPDF's assumption of security control underscores the gravity of the situation. The pastor's safety, along with that of those associated with Canaan Church and its affiliated offices, remains a top priority as authorities work to ensure a swift and thorough resolution to the incident.
