S.6 Vacist and Mother Brutally Murdered in Mbarara by Relatives

Police in Rwizi region and Mbarara are currently investigating the brutal murders of Ruth Ainembabazi, a senior six vacist, and her mother Franscisco Bashaba. The heinous crime took place during the night of January 5, 2023, at Nsiika cell, Ntura parish in Mbarara district.

The investigation unfolds with the revelation that the victims, a mother-daughter duo, had visited a relative in Nsiika cell. The mother, in the company of her daughter, received a call from her estranged husband, Musinguzi Deus, aged 55. The couple was reportedly not on good terms at the time.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga provided details, stating that the two were last seen on January 6, raising concerns among local residents. Upon checking their residence, both victims were tragically discovered dead, their heads brutally smashed with a blunt object.

Enanga reported that three individuals were promptly arrested as suspects in connection with the murders. The suspects include the husband, Deus Musinguzi Deus, the stepson, Julius Ainemukama (25), and the co-wife, Rosemary Kyohairwe (50). The arrests were made due to an ongoing family dispute and conflict.

"They were the last persons who called the victims, prior to their death, and were acting in a suspicious manner," Enanga noted.

Expressing his condemnation of such domestic violence, Enanga urged individuals to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, especially within familial settings.
