Police Clash Over Pastor Bugingo Car

A conflict within the police force emerged as Pastor Aloysious Bugingo's vehicle, prominently displaying 11 visible bullet holes, was transferred from the Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS) at Naguru police headquarters to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) in Kibuli.

The decision to move the vehicle came after an agreement between the Directorate Crime Intelligence (DCI) and DFS. However, upon its arrival at CID headquarters, drama unfolded as senior CID officers questioned the authority behind the transfer, raising concerns about the lack of the director's consent.

A police driver, following orders, transported the vehicle to CID headquarters, where investigations are under the supervision of Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Beata Chelimo. The disagreement over jurisdiction led to heated exchanges among officers regarding the rightful custodian of Pastor Bugingo's crucial piece of evidence.

In an attempt to resolve the impasse, it was ultimately decided that the vehicle should be handed over to the Inspector of Vehicles Officer (IOV) at Old Kampala. This move aimed to quell the disputes within the police ranks and ensure a smoother handling of the investigation.

Meanwhile, investigators are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the truth behind the attempted assassination. Seven CCTV videos from Salt Media premises, police security cameras on the road, and footage from cameras on private buildings have been collected.

The comprehensive approach to gathering evidence reflects the authorities' commitment to unraveling the entire sequence of events surrounding the attack on Pastor Bugingo and the tragic death of his bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza.
