Family of Four Slaughtered in Kamwenge

Authorities in Kamwenge District are probing the brutal hacking murder of four family members, which occurred on Monday at 10 pm in Rwenchwera village, Kinyonza ward in Nkoma Katalyeba Town Council.

The victims have been identified as Gladys Turyahebwa (42) and her children Anita Nuwamanya (18), Susan Ainemani (16), and Onesta Atusasire (9).

Vincent Twesige, the police spokesperson for the Rwenzori West region, reported that three individuals died on the spot, while Ainemani succumbed to injuries at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital on Tuesday morning.
The suspected assailant, Sam Asiimwe (33), a neighbor of the deceased, was lynched by angered residents. The family head, Denis Turyabe, was away during the incident.

The cause of the deaths is yet to be determined, and police are actively investigating the incident. A police team, led by Asp Akol, is at the scene to establish the circumstances and the killer's motive. Sam Bahati, the chairperson of Nkoma Ward, shared that only a 1-year-old child survived as they were not inside the house during the attack.
After committing the crime, the suspect locked himself inside the house, but neighbors, alerted by an alarm, intervened, leading to his lynching. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
