Man loses genitals in fight over woman

A gruesome incident unfolded in Amuria District, leaving a 25-year-old man, Martin Onyait, hospitalized at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital after his genitals were severed during a violent confrontation over a woman.

The altercation occurred on Tuesday evening when Paul Onyala allegedly assaulted Onyait in a fight for the affections of Angela Apila. Julius Otim, a local leader for Ogongora Village in Soroti's Ogongora Sub County, recounted the distressing discovery: "the victim was found lying naked and unconscious in a pool of blood before he was taken to the hospital."

As of press time, Onyait was under the care of at least seven doctors addressing severe wounds, including those on his face and neck. Otim, who responded promptly to the incident, received a distress call from Onyait's father, Yuventino Opio, who reported the matter to the local office.

"He sustained a bad injury on his manhood and was bleeding badly, even the scrotum was oozing blood," Otim stated.

Opio emphasized that only Onyait was found critically injured at the scene, and neither the attackers nor the woman involved in the dispute were present.

Mary Abuko, the mother of Onyait's two children, expressed shock, claiming she had never suspected her husband of infidelity. She stated, "My husband stayed home for the whole day and moved out when he received his father's phone call." Abuko further accused the suspect of absconding with her husband's clothes and money amounting to Shs500,000.

Dr. Ben Watmon, the Director of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, stated that he would provide comments on the matter only after receiving a detailed report concerning the victim's health condition. The incident sheds light on the tragic consequences of violent confrontations arising from complex relationships and underscores the need for addressing such disputes peacefully and responsibly.
