Sudan’s Burhan visits troops after losses to RSF

Sudan's Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the leader of the army, recently paid a visit to troops stationed in two strategically important bases in Khartoum and Omdurman.

This visit comes in the wake of recent defeats suffered by the army at the hands of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over the past week.

The visit was broadcasted on Sudan TV, showcasing Gen Burhan inspecting the troops stationed at Wadi Saidna and Karari bases on Tuesday.

Despite the RSF's claims that they have taken control of three army headquarters in Darfur, with hundreds of soldiers defecting to their side, including some in Khartoum, and capturing the airport in West Kordofan since October 26, Gen Burhan sought to downplay these statements.

He accused the RSF of launching attacks despite ongoing peace talks in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the military would continue to fight.

However, Gen Burhan also expressed the army's commitment to the peace talks in Jeddah, aimed at bringing an end to the war that began in mid-April.
