Two Senegal opposition figures regain eligibility for the presidency after Parliament passes a law allowing individuals with previous convictions who have been pardoned or amnestied to run for public office.

Khalifa Sall and Karim Wade were barred from standing in the 2019 election but can now participate in next year's presidential race.

However, Ousmane Sonko, Senegal's prominent opposition leader, is currently facing criminal charges that could hinder his candidacy to replace President Macky Sall. #Senegal
