The Use of Tinted Car Windows Restricted in Nigerian State

Enugu state in Nigeria's southeastern region has implemented a ban on the unauthorized operation of vehicles equipped with tinted windows, aiming to tackle criminal activities.

Car owners with tinted windows in this state are required to secure permits from the police by 4 September. Any vehicles found non-compliant will be confiscated, and their owners will face fines, according to a statement from state officials.

The issuance of permits for tinted vehicles was halted nationwide by Nigerian police in 2021. This decision followed concerns about counterfeit licenses and instances of police targeting car owners. The move was part of the government's initiative to establish a new protocol for permit issuance. Notably, vehicles with factory-installed tinted glass are exempt from this directive.
