Pokot Rustlers Kill Two UPDF Soldiers in Nakapiripirit

In Nakapiripirit district, tragedy struck as suspected cattle rustlers from the Pokot community engaged in a violent confrontation with two Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) soldiers, resulting in the soldiers' untimely deaths. The incident unfolded during an attempt to recover stolen cattle at 8 pm within the Pian Upe Game Reserve, specifically around Molunyangai Hill.

Armed Pokot fighters ambushed the troops, who were actively pursuing approximately 300 rustled cattle taken from the Kobion area in Nakapiripirit District's Loleng sub-county. In a triple ambush on the soldiers hailing from the 51st Infantry Battalion, Lt. John Ojur Ssentongo and an unnamed fellow soldier tragically lost their lives while dutifully fulfilling their mission.
