Kenyan senator involved in scholarship scam granted bail

A Kenyan high court has decided to release Senator Jackson Mandago and two former county officials on bail. They were implicated in a scholarship scandal where they were accused of collaborating to embezzle approximately $7.6 million designated for the higher education of Kenyan students in Finland and Canada.

The three individuals, including the senator, are set to face 11 charges related to the case. The senator has maintained his innocence regarding the alleged mishandling of the funds. A magistrate ruled that the trial would not commence until all four suspects were present in court. Additionally, Kenyan police have reported that one of the suspects, Joseph Maritim, has fled the country.
