Four individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident in Nakasongola last night, the victims have been identified as Adam Balyejusa (27 years old), Abdul Kharim Walugembe (42 years old), Abass Yiga (45 years old), and an unidentified adult male.
Initial investigations suggest that the accident occurred when a Mercedes Benz trailer with number plate UAQ108W/UAY 227P, traveling from Gulu to Kampala, veered into the opposite lane upon reaching Kikoona Trading Centre. This resulted in a collision with a Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter registered under UBL345A. The impact led to the immediate deaths of the four aforementioned individuals. Samuel Muwonge was also injured in the accident.
According to Sam Twineamaziima, the Regional Police Spokesman, law enforcement promptly responded to the incident upon receiving the report. They arrived at the scene, documented the situation, provided medical assistance at Nakasongola HCIV, and subsequently transferred the injured to Mulago referral hospital. The deceased were transported to Nakasongola HCIV mortuary for postmortem examinations.
As of the latest update, both vehicles remained at the scene, awaiting assistance for removal.
