A tragic incident occurred on Madu-Sembabule Road involving a Jaguar Bus with registration number UBF 736G. The bus, which was traveling from Rwanda to Uganda via Mirama, crashed on August 13, 2023, at 5:12 am near Kajumiro in Gomba District.
Reportedly, the bus lost control at Kajumiro Maddu-Ssembabule and overturned, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including the driver, Asiimwe David. Additionally, eight passengers who were on the same bus sustained critical injuries.
The injured victims have been swiftly taken to Maddu Health Centre III for medical treatment. The deceased bodies have been transported to Gomba Hospital for postmortem examination.
The vehicle involved in the accident has been towed to Kanoni Police Station for inspection.
SP Kananura Michael, the spokesperson for Traffic & Road Safety, mentioned, "The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined as investigations begin to uncover the potential factors behind this unfortunate incident."
